Making an apron for kids is easy and a great learning experience, also for beginners. We have everything you need right here to make the perfect apron for kids. The tools we need to make this kids apron:
There is not much we need to make this apron. We need a cutter, ribbons and some pins.
We need two layers of the apron fabric, Two for the pocket and ribbons to keep the apron in place.
I use a jersey fabric. That's what I had available. But you can use any fabric you want. I would recommend a dark color that is safe to use in the washing machine.

The Pocket
Step 1 - Attaching the pocket pieces
We start with the pocket. And we place the front of the pocket opening on the table, facing upwards. We then take the pocket the pocket backside and place it like this, with the right side facing each other. We then secure it with clips or pins and sew it in place.
Step 2 - The Pocket Ribbon
With the front and back pocket pieces attached, we can attach the top ribbon. The top ribbon is a nice detail that gives the apron a nice professional look. However, the ribbon does also has a very important function. It protects the pocket from wear and tear. I recommend that you iron the pocket pieces before you attach the ribbon. I also made a zigzag seam around the backpiece's edge to protect the fabric from ripping. We sew the ribbon with a regular sewing machine.
Step 3- Sewing the pocket in place
With all the pocket parts in place, we can finally attach the pocket to the apron. I use threads that match the apron. That's why I started sewing a bit down on the pocket. I'm going to sew all the way up to the ribbon with threading that matches the fabric.

The Ribbons and the back piece.
We place the ribbons and use clips and pins to keep them in place. We then lay the back piece on top of the front piece. The pieces are facing each other, meaning that the apron is inside out. We make sure that the ribbons are laid straight inside, and we start to apply clips around the apron. We sew around the apron, just leaving a small opening at the bottom of the apron. We then turn the apron right way out and close the opening. Remember to look for loose threads or other things you should deal with before closing the Apron.
We then press the apron, and sew around it one more time, to provide some extra stabilization. And when all loose threads are fastened, the apron is complete!
