The Singer Confidence 7470 was made for creative sewers and was one of the most technologically advanced machines when it was released. How does it hold up in 2022? In this review, we are comparing the machine to 2021s standards.
Should you buy the Singer Confidence 7470 in 2022?
The Singer Confidence 7470 is without a doubt a good sewing machine, also in 2021. it offers a generous amount of stitches and useful accessories like the buttonhole foot with the extra support plate. The Machine feels old, But its age makes it easier to understand and maneuver than a new modern sewing machine.
Even tho the machine is technically outdated in 2021, it's without a doubt a good sewing machine that still offers a great sewing experience.

Singer Confidence 7470 Included Accessories:
The list of accessories on the Singer Confidence 7470 is rather impressive. As always, Singer includes accessories that are well thought out and fits the users of the machine. The Accessories I found extra useful are the pressure feet. The buttonhole foot measures the size of the button, so you will get the perfect size of your buttonholes. The buttonhole foot also includes a support plate. Perfect if you are sewing on slippery fabrics or multiple layers of fabric. The satin stitch foot is also handy because of The V shape. It makes it so easy to aim your stitching!
Included Accessories:
5 extra needles
4 bobbins
A bigger Second spool pin
2 felt discs for the spool pins.
3 spool caps in three different sizes
4 Pressure Feet. Buttonhole Opener/Brush/
Seam Ripper.
Screwdriver.
User Experience:
The Old technology on the Singer Confidence actually makes it easier to understand. You can select among the most used stitches with just a touch of a button. You can also mirror the decorative stitches. Selecting stitches from the screen is also easy as there is one button for each option. This old technology has its negatives like you cant select the size of the letters. The sewing machine is also slow and heavy. It's almost 40% slower than a 2021 model and half the weight. When it comes to sewing these are not as important as you might think. Most of the time goes to preparation and you rarely sew on full speed. If you don't have to move your sewing machine around to much the Singer Confidence 7470 will work great.
Who is the Singer Confidence 7470 made for?
The Singer Confidence 7470 was originally made for intermediate sewers/Quilters. In 2021 however, this is truly a value for money machine for beginners. The size of the machine and the lack of customization make the singer Confidence 7470 2021 a little outdated.
The great varsity of stitches and the pressure feet are the elements that keep the Singer Confidence 7470 relevant.
Performance:
The power and the control you have over the fabric while sewing are quite good, The lighting is also good even tho it isn't LED lights. The free arm works good and I like that all-important options are easily accessible at the touch of the button. It also works great on sewing and quilting. the stitches that look handsewn are also very charming. As mentioned earlier the lack of customization of stitches is truly the biggest downside of the Singer Confidence 7470.
Value for money:
I don't think you can find a new Singer Confidence 7470 in 2021. But if you do it would probably not be worth the buy. But if you can get a good second-hand Singer Confidence 7470 for around 100 bucks it's definitely a sewing machine that offers value for money.
